Stryker, Jim (Model/Subject) & Kundzicz, Walter (Champion Studios). JIM STRYKER: "WHITE DRAWERS" COLOR PHOTOGRAPH BY WALTER KUNDZICZ. New York City, NY: Champion Studio, 1961. Hardcover. First Edition/First Printing. 1 pages. Fine.

Rare Jim Stryker and Walter Kundzicz/Champion Studios collectible item. An original vintage color photograph of Jim Stryker, the single most popular and most good-looking male-nude model discovered by Walter Kundzicz. The photograph measures 3.5 X 5 inches and has white borders. It is encased in a protective plastic sheet. The photograph shows Jim Stryker posing scantily and markedly clad in white drawers, and shot with natural light. The photograph shows the strikingly and sexily handsome model in one of his finest portraits ever. "Famous for quality color images of handsome, athletic men from the late 1950's and early 1960's, these photographs of scantily clad athletes (packed with amusing props, costumes, and bulging posing pouches) are notable not only for the commercial success they enjoyed during their heyday but also for their enduring creativity and imagination. Kundzicz and his work left an indelible imprint on male physique photography. Today, nearly half a century later, Kundzicz's work and his most popular models continue to have their ardent fans" (Reed Massengill). Jim Stryker is the prototypical All-American male beauty. He anticipates by about two decades the model/stars of the reigning American photographer of the male nude, Bruce Weber. This is the genuine article, not just memorabilia, a "must-have" collectible for Jim Stryker, Walter Kundzicz/Champion, and male erotic art photography collectors. This is an original color print, and it is very boldly and beautifully signed in blue pen on verso by the photographer: "W. Kundzicz/Champion". It is also stamped, "Jim Stryker" (in red), labeled "Special III", and numbered "#304" (in blue pen), on verso. This is the only such copy of the print available online, is eminently suitable for framing, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a museum-quality, collector's copy. There are Jim Stryker/Walter Kundzicz prints and digital copies available online, but most of them have major flaws and have little or no collectible value. A rare signed copy thus. One of the iconic American male-nude models of the 20th century. A fine collectible copy.
