Seeff, Norman (Photographer); Jagger, Mick; Mitchell, Joni; Warhol, Andy & Other Subjects. HOT SHOTS: PHOTOGRAPHS BY NORMAN SEEFF. New York City, NY: Flash Books, 1974. Softcover. First Edition/First Printing. 90 pages. Fine.

Retrospective collection of portrait-photographs on popular music subjects. One of the most beautiful collections of its kind ever assembled in one volume. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a softcover original only. A brilliant production by Norman Seeff: Regular-sized volume format in square shape. Pictorial softcovers, which feature Sly Stone on the cover, and red titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Norman Seeff. Except for the Captions appended at the end, there is no text. Printed on thick coated stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents a rich and rewarding collection early in their brilliant careers of rock stars, pop music superstars, and rhythm-and-blues icons, along with some of their pop culture counterparts. With rare exceptions, rock stars have meteoric and short-lived careers. Many of the subjects in this book are known only to the people (mainly in the Sixties and early Seventies) who listened to, loved, and identified themselves with the music. But if you really care about the music and the only rock star you know is Madonna or Britney Spears, there is something wrong with you. Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Patti Smith (photographed with a very handsome Robert Mapplethorpe), Tina Turner, Jackson Browne, Pete Seeger, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Cher, and Joni Mitchell are still with us, permanently so, and at the very top of the pantheon. Jagger, Turner, Taylor, and Mitchell in particular are not just Living Legends, they are Living Greats. But The Monkees, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Alice Cooper, Sha Na Na, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band are not. That's a shame because, did they rock in their time. Together with such pop culture figures as Andy Warhol, Steve Martin, and Viva, here they are, posing mischievously or seriously, naughtily or reflectively, in unforgettably beautiful portraits. A "must-have" title for Norman Seeff and photography collectors as well as music aficionados. This title has been out-of-print for almost thirty-five years and is now highly collectible. This is one of very few copies still available online and is in fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty. Almost all other copies available online have major flaws. A rare copy thus. 90 plates. Some of the world's greatest rock and pop music stars. A fine collectible copy. . ISBN 0825639034. $150.00
