Stryker, Jim (Model/Subject) & Kundzicz, Walter (Champion Studios). JIM STRYKER: PHOTOGRAPHS BY WALTER KUNDZICZ. Union City, NJ: The Body Builder Publications, Inc. , 1962. Hardcover. First Edition/First Printing. 52 pages. Fine.

Rare Jim Stryker and Walter Kundzicz/Champion Studios collectible item. A copy of The Demi-Gods Magazine January 1962 Issue. Features Jim Stryker, the single most popular and most good-looking male-nude model discovered by Walter Kundzicz, as photographed in 1961 in some of his most beautiful and iconic portraits. The Issue shows Jim Stryker bare-chested and wearing revealing shorts on the cover (in crisp color) and inside, five pages in all showing the model on the beach (in black-and-white). It is encased in a protective plastic sheet. "Famous for quality color images of handsome, athletic young men from the late 1950's and early 1960's, these photographs of scantily clad athletes (packed with amusing props, costumes, and bulging posing pouches) are notable not only for the commercial success they enjoyed during their heyday but also for their enduring creativity and imagination. Kundzicz and his work left an indelible imprint on male physique photography. Today, nearly half a century later, Kundzicz's work and his most popular models continue to have their ardent fans" (Reed Massengill). Jim Stryker is the prototypical All-American male beauty. He anticipates by about two decades the model/stars of the reigning American photographer of the male nude, Bruce Weber. This is the genuine article, not just memorabilia, a "must-have" collectible for Jim Stryker, Walter Kundzicz/Champion, and male erotic art photography collectors. This is a copy of The Demi-Gods Magazine Issue, which is now very scarce and highly collectible. This is one of extremely few copies still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty. Copies appear online on a very sporadic basis and in varying degrees of heavy use. A rare copy thus. One of the iconic American male-nude models of the 20th century. A fine copy.
