Heydendrach, John (Model/Subject) & Photographer Unknown. MALE NUDE. Place Unknown: Photographer Unidentified, 1959. Softcover. First Edition/First Printing. 1 pages. Fine.

Rare male nude collectible item. A fine vintage copy of the archival 4 X 5 inch silver-gelatin print of John Heydendrach, which is the name, presumably of the model, written on verso; we have not found any further information about him. The photograph was taken between 1959 and 1969, also as indicated on verso, Number 19 of 28 original print copies. Regardless of the rather wide, decade-long provenance, the photographic style itself is much older: Pictorialist/Romantic, reminiscent of Herbert List at his absolute best. The model, with glistening physique, Perfection Incarnate, is photographed in a natural setting, amid (phallic) trees and (virginal/pristine) lake. He is, all in all, one of the most good-looking male models ever photographed. He and his surroundings are a precursor to Bruce Weber and "Bear Pond" (1986) , anticipating the latter by more than thirty-five years. It is important to note that this was well before the Digital Age of total manipulation and alteration. John is The Real Thing. An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, item for male nude photography collectors. This is an archival vintage print. Made in the period 1959-1969, it has not aged, yellowed, or darkened at all, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. As far as we know, this is the only such print available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. It is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful male nudes we have ever seen. A rare copy thus. One of the finest male nudes of the 20th century. A fine copy. . $100.00
