Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Gregori Maiofis' "Taste For Russian Ballet". One of the last four concluding titles in the Series. "Gregori Maiofis's influences are multinational and multicultural. Born in St. Petersberg, Russia in 1970, where he immersed himself in traditional academy training, Maiofis then moved to Los Angeles where he participated in the vibrant art scene and learned new art forms. After five years in LA, Maiofis returned to his native St. Petersburg because, he states, 'I can do things here artistically that I couldn't do anywhere else'. One of which, of course, was to create his now-famous series pairing a long-limbed ballerina with a burly circus bear, carefully smuggled into an empty apartment building for the shoot. Seated in a chair, sometimes in profile and at others with his back to the viewer, the bear appears to be giving directions to the ballerina, who beautifully, and very professionally, obeys him. One of the most poignant images: That of the bear lifting his paw in imitation of the ballerina's own gracefully uplifted arm" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Gregori Maiofis collectors. This copy is one of the Limited Edition, indicated as such in pencil on the Back Limitation Page. It comes with an original color print that is very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen on verso by Gregori Maiofis. This title is now collectible. This is one of very few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. A rare signed copy thus. 8 duotone plates, 1 original print. One of the most brilliant Russian photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).
