The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Presents "Barry Kornbluh: Nudes". A delectable selection of his female nudes, done in grainy black-and-white, in the same vein as his dreamily sensual portraits (of family and friends). The Amsterdam-based American photographer learned his craft from the very best: He studied with Lisette Model at the New School, then apprenticed with Elliott Erwitt, Susan Meiselas, and Gilles Peress, all of them Magnum photographers. His own style is anti-realistic, enigmatic, and indeed has the look and feel of an evanescent dream, if only one could capture such a dream in a photographic image. As such, his female nudes could not be more anti-Magnum documentary either in their aesthetics and poetic imagery. His nudes remind us of the work of the young photographer J. H. Engstrom, to cite just one comparison, and have earned him a cult following in Europe and Japan for their subtle eroticism. An absolute "must-have" title for Barry Kornbluh collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 250 copies. It comes with a one-page handwritten letter on his personal stationery addressed to Paul Berlanga, the Chicago-based photography expert and painter. The letter is very prominently and beautifully signed and inscribed in black ink-pen by Barry Kornbluh. This title is now collectible. As far as we know, this is the only copy (with handwritten letter) of the Limited Edition available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with black-and-white plates. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO BEAR KIRKPATRICK TITLE IN OUR CATALOG). $40.00
