Nimmo, H. Arlo. THE SONGS OF SALANDA AND OTHER STORIES OF SULU. Seattle, WA: University Of Washington Press, 1994. Hardcover. First Edition/First Printing. 257 pages. As New/As New.

The author's debut collection of short stories. Published in a small and limited print run as a hardcover original by a University Press. The first and only edition, it is now very scarce. H. Arlo Nimmo is a highly regarded anthropologist, and these stories are all based upon his experiences among the legendary Bajau people of the Sulu Archipelago, a people mysterious and inscrutable even among their fellow Filipinos, and all the more admirable for it. Many are recounted as simply and eloquently as a short story could possibly be. A page-turner, both moving and gripping, this is quite a literary feat for a writer who is a distinguished social scientist by profession. A "must-have" title for collectors of Philippine lore and literature. This title has been out-of-print for a very long time. This is one of few copies of the true First Edition still available online and has no flaws, a pristine beauty. A scarce copy thus. One of the finest living American anthropologist/fictionists. A flawless copy. . ISBN 029597334X. $25.00
