Arlo Nimmo is a highly regarded anthropologist, and these stories are all based upon his experiences among the legendary Bajau people of the Sulu Archipelago, a people mysterious and inscrutable even among their fellow Filipinos, and all the more admirable for it. Many are recounted as simply and eloquently as a short story could possibly be. A page-turner, both moving and gripping, this is quite a literary feat for a writer who is a distinguished social scientist by profession. A "must-have" title for collectors of Philippine lore and literature. This title has been out-of-print for a very long time.
