Gorman, Greg. AS I SEE IT. New York City, NY: PowerHouse Books, 2000. Hardcover. First Edition/First Printing. 288 pages. As New. Signed.

Landmark collection of male nudes. Now considered a contemporary erotic photography classic. Deluxe Edition of 80 numbered and signed copies. The true first. Infinitely superior to and should not be confused with the trade editions published in 2000 and 2004. A magnificent production by Greg Gorman and Daniel Power: Rich dark-brown leather boards with titles embossed on spine, as issued. Photographic reproduction pasted in front. Photographs and Introduction by Greg Gorman. Preface by Sir Elton John, the world's single largest private collector of erotic and art photography. Afterword by John Hurt. Acknowledgments, Biography, and List of Exhibitions appended at the end. Flesh-toned slipcase with gilt titles embossed on one side. Printed on thick coated stock paper in the United States to the very highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents the photographer's "summing-up" collection on the male nude, his single greatest passion. Almost all of the portraits are full-frontal and include such celebrities as Christopher Atkins, Alexis Arquette, Nicholas Gonzalez, Josh Duhamel, Aaron Long, Tony Ward, Jack Welsh, and Jeff Clark, among so many others. Also has the now-celebrated suite of photographs featuring the shy but well-endowed model Speedy. Greg Gorman has said that what he wanted to capture permanently in pictures is the boy/man, not the muscular, beefy type nor the pre-pubescent, skinny little kid, but someone in-between, with a lean, supple, and clean-shaven body, regardless of his age. Many of the boy/men in this collection are in their late-teens or twenties, but someone like Christopher Atkins is in his forties yet still has the "Blue Lagoon" good looks and physique that catapulted him to international stardom. For Gorman, the boy/man is the epitome of everything that makes the male specimen simply irresistible. By his own admission, Greg Gorman considers this to be his best collection thus far. A sumptuous sensual feast, this is a "must-have" title for Greg Gorman collectors. This copy is Number 46, indicated as such on the original silver-gelatin print that comes with it, which is prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in pencil on verso by Greg Gorman. The toned print of the model and television actor Ned Brower is professionally and elegantly framed in a floating manner, making it stand out dramatically within the frame. Copies of the First Trade Edition have been out-of-print for a long time, are now difficult to find, and have increased in value. Copies of this Deluxe Edition sold out some time ago, and the print is sold on its own for between $850 and $1000. This is the only such copy of the Deluxe Edition and original print available online and has no flaws, a pristine beauty. A rare, one-of-a-kind signed copy thus. 212 tritone plates. One of the finest living American photographers. A flawless collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER GREG GORMAN TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 1576870871. $1400.00
